Bird book!

I practiced coptic bookbinding a couple of times before making that book for the friend's wedding..... (sadly, I still didn't get part of her book as tightly bound as I'd liked to have --- her covers still shift left/right more than I think they should).... here's the only one that I remembered to photograph before giving it away:

I thinkthis kind of looks like a seahorse.... butif you turn it up-side-down, it looks like a very stylized Ganesh head. (note to my readers - no, I don't actually particularly like these colors together, but sometimes a person has to try new stuff out just to see what it might look like :P

Not all fusing ends in success

Actually - the bubbled one looks rather cool up close --- but sadly there's not really much I can do with somethign this fragile (and lumpy):

Steve wanted to see before & after of the kiln shot below.... welll..... turns out I'm not always good at remembering the "after" photo shoot.....

This is what happens when I procrastinate sewing an actual *dress* for myself..... :) Nearly instant gratification!

spring is coming....

It's almost warm enough to
(a) work on hot glass in my garage!
(b) work on larger cement project in my garage!

....the "almost" is only in there because...... not only are the weather folks predicting cold weather & snow for this weekend, but due to hasty winter preparations last fall..... my garage is not exactly in great shape for anything other than storage.... so I think that first big pring project will be to re-organize the garage in to a better workspace. yup. big plans, people. big plans.
